CHICKENFOOT CURSE

Here are some ways to get rid of chickenfoot so that you can skate with confidence.

First, what exactly is “chickenfoot?”

Chickenfoot is a problem with many beginner skateboard tricks. This happens when a skateboarder attempts a trick but then fails to complete it. This happens a lot when you try to Olly down stairs or over gaps.

This was my biggest problem when I started to skate stairsets. I was a terrible skater and would often kick my board out of reach before I could land my trick. This caused me to get some very nasty heel bruises, which were probably worse than if the trick had been committed to.

My biggest reason I didn’t land my trick was that I didn’t believe I could. I have a tip for breaking the chickenfoot curse in skateboarding.

#1: Believe in yourself, and the ability to land your trick.

You might be right if you think you aren’t capable of doing a particular trick. You shouldn’t ever think you can’t do something. Believe in yourself. You can do this trick again if you have done it before.

You might need to be more inventive if this is your first attempt at the trick. It is possible to pretend you have done this trick before and that you can do it again.

You’ll feel more confident when you do your best to land your trick.

#2 – Visualize yourself succeeding.

Visualizing yourself performing a trick is a great way to believe you can do it. Visualize yourself performing this trick as if you were there. Imagine what you’d see and how it would make you feel.

Although it may sound like hocus-pocus, this is not the only person who uses this technique to land tricks. Paul Rodriguez does too. There are probably many other professional skateboarders.

You will find that you can do it over and over in your mind, so it becomes easier to believe you can pull off this trick.

#3 – Feel the fear, and do it anyway

Skaters have chickenfoot because they fear landing and committing their tricks. They fear all the possible negative consequences and this freaks them out.

You have to confront your fears in order to get rid of chickenfoot. Skateboarding can be painful at times, but you shouldn’t let that stop your determination to continue skating.

You can relieve some of your fear by getting rid negative thoughts and self talk. Instead, think positive thoughts and visualize positive things. Visualize yourself succeeding. Believe in yourself and be fully committed.

You can’t wait to get hurt. Don’t hesitate to try it.
